Introduction to the Department
Seoul National University Bundang Hospital’s Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine focuses on a special area of internal medicine that deals with respiratory diseases. We provide world-class, quality care with state-of the-art medical devices and specialized staffs.
The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine deals with the following diseases
1. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma
2. Lung cancer, solitary pulmonary nodule, ground-glass opacity (GGO)
3. Pneumonia, pulmonary tuberculosis
4. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), interstitial lung disease, bronchiectasis
5. Pulmonary artery hypertension, pulmonary thromboembolism
6. Pleural effusion, pleural tumor
7. Sleep apnea, snoring
8. Intensive care, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)
The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine performs the following procedures
1. Low-dose chest CT
2. Sleeping bronchial endoscopy (bronchoscopy)
3. Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)
4. Interventional bronchoscopy: stenting, ballooning, electrocautery, laser, and cryotherapy
5. Autofluorescent endoscope, photodynamic therapy: early lung cancer detection and treatment
6. Endobronchial valve therapy: emphysema reduction in COPD patients
7. Polysomnography and positive airway pressure (PAP) titration: patients with sleep disordered breathing
8. Percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy: patients in the Intensive Care Unit
