Dr. Kim's research group focuses on the Helicobacter pylori, especially on the effect of H. pylori infection on the development of gastric cancer, and treatment of H. pylori infection. This includes research on the link between H. pylori infection and gastric cancer in the aspect of risk factors such as cancer family and intestinal metaplasia. The research on the mechanism of H. pylori-induced gastric cancer includes genetic factors and epigenetic factors such as methylation of gastric tissue as well as toxic factors of H. pylori. Her group also perform leading research regarding resistance of antibiotics of H. pylori to establish the most adequate rescue therapy for the failures of the standard proton pump inhibitor based triple therapy. In addition, Dr Kim's research group is participating in the research of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), in the aspect of clinical features and epidemiology of GERD.
