Department of Radiology

Introduction to the Department

The Department of Radiology is a highly specialized, full-service department striving to meet all the patients’ and clinicians’ needs in diagnostic imaging and image-guided therapies through cutting-edge imaging technologies such as high-resolution images, three-dimensional images, and functional magnetic resonance imaging.

The divisions of the Department of Radiology at SNUBH include neuroradiology, neurointerventional radiology, thoracic imaging, abdominal imaging, genitourinary imaging, musculoskeletal imaging, cardiovascular imaging, breast imaging, pediatric imaging, and interventional radiology.

The Department’s professors, possessing extensive knowledge and experience in different areas, perform medical imaging examinations, interpret the results, play the role of consultants for the doctors in other departments in the diagnoses and treatments of patients, and administer image-guided therapies using cutting-edge imaging equipment. Representative examples include those in the area of interventional radiology and in the Interventional Pain Clinic.

In addition, the Department of Radiology introduced night on-call service systems for emergency patients to enable immediate participation in diagnoses and treatments, thus contributing greatly to the enhancement of the quality of emergency patient treatments. Also introduced were 24-hour working systems for faster and smoother MR examinations of night emergency patients, which have enabled SNUBH to become one of the hospitals in South Korea that provide the fastest urgent care for acute-cerebral-infarction patients.
