Clinical Pharmacology
Clinical pharmacology is a discipline that researches and applies optimal drug therapies to patients.
The Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics provides consultation services on new drug development and conducts early phase clinical trials. We also provide a therapeutic drug monitoring service for optimal therapy and consultation services on personalized drug therapies. In addition, we are cultivating experts in the field of clinical pharmacology and making efforts to disseminate knowledge about drug therapies.
Currently, new drugs are actively being developed over the world, and clinical trials to find optimal therapies are essential for new drug development. To this end, our department designs and conducts early phase clinical trials to determine the safety and the characteristics of drugs, reports the research results, and consults on the overall new drug development process. In addition, we conduct advanced research using genomics, metabolomics, proteomics, and microbiomics and clinical trials and drug therapy optimization research using modeling and simulation. For hospital patients, we provide therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) services for optimal drug therapies and consult in various fields such as drug-drug interactions, adverse drug reactions, pharmacogenetics, drug information, etc.
Through these activities, we will take the lead in maximizing effective drug therapies and ultimately contribute to the health and happiness of humanity.
