Pediatrics
The pediatrics department is divided into the subdiagnosis and treatment areas, including children’s hearts, newborn infants, children’s infections, critically ill newborn infants and child care, children’s nerves, and children’s digestive organs & nutrition, taking charge of diagnosis & treatments, education, and research.
In particular, the Critically Ill Newborn Infant Room records the lowest premature infant death rate among the South Korean institutes, and boasts outstanding medical-service records in different areas of specialization, such as approximately 500 cases of echocardiograms, 80 cases of fetus echocardiograms, 360 cases of endoscopy, and 1,200 cases of electroencephalography in a year.
Through this hospital’s specialization in the area of fetus echocardiograms from the time of its opening, the area of child cardiology now contributes to the provision of services prior to delivery at the international level, surpassing the domestic levels.
The area of neonatology performs the highest level of general management of premature infants and chronic-lung-disease care, diagnoses, treatments, and research in South Korea. In particular, its clinical research on and basic research competence in bronchopulmonary dysplasia ― a chronic lung disease afflicting newborn infants ― are outstanding, with world-class research outcomes.
Moreover, this department boasts the most active and advanced teamwork in organic cooperation with other submedical service areas, such as neurology, endocrinology, nutrition provision, rehabilitation treatments, and various surgery areas.
The area of child infection studies not only takes charge of the treatment of patients with various kinds of infectious diseases and related respiratory organ diseases of varying severity but also boasts world-class research outcomes on viral and bacterial diseases.
