Sex- and Gender-Specific Medicine activities

  • 1) Seminars and forums were held once every three months, during which Professor Rhonda Schbinger from Stanford University shared updates on gender difference medicine and gender innovation.
  • 2) Introduction of the experiment's contents on sex differences in medicine by each research team.
  • 3) Joint preparation of research proposals on Sex- and Gender-Specific Medicine
  • 4) Conduct research on sex- and gender-specific medicine with scholars in the basic field.
  • 5) Education on Sex- and Gender-Specific Medicine: Provides lectures for medical undergraduate and graduate students, Research methodology education for graduate students and post-doctoral researchers, etc.
  • 6) Promotion of Sex- and Gender-Specific Medicine: Media publicity to raise awareness about Sex Difference Medicine, as well as education on gender differences in disease prevention and treatment for the general public.
  • 7) Promotion of ties and joint research with domestic and foreign institutions interested in Sex- and Gender-Specific Medicine

Expected Effects and Utilization Plan of the Research Center for Sex- and Gender-Specific Medicine.

  • Discover diseases that show gender differences in important diseases by gender and age, analyze risk factors while identifying mechanisms, and derive health indicators to apply to health promotion.
  • Conducting convergence research with basic scholars from Seoul National University's Gwanak and Yeongeon Campuses.
  • Develop basic and multi-institutional joint research projects, prepare external research proposals, and strive to succeed in winning research funds.
  • Contribute to the realization of personalized precision medical care by developing a disease screening program that is tailored to individuals, taking into account factors such as gender, age, and the cause of colorectal cancer.
  • Linking the results of this research with domestic and foreign patents
  • Practical contribution to national health promotion and medical cost reduction effect through publicity and education on disease prevention and treatment
  • Established a position as a mecca of Sex- and Gender-Specific Medicine and promoted Seoul National University Bundang Hospital domestically and internationally.
