Subject: RE: [Gendered Innovations] Lots of new research!
Dear Londa,
Thank you for announcing the new Research Institute of Gender Differences in Medicine at SNU Bundang Hospital. Dr. Kim is a success story that she was so quick in joining my project from 2014, and adopted gendered innovations in her project as well as forming a group to give a course and write books. If you remember, she joined our workshop with you to review Dietary Methods and Colon Cancer cases at Stanford. She had a very good opening ceremony and symposium in March, and next week I will give a seminar on gender variables. I hope someone becomes interested in using the gender variable model in cohort or clinical studies. Thank you for all your support. We will keep you informed.
Best regards,
Hee Young

TM Palermo, KD Davis, D Bouhassira… - Pain …, 2023 - academic.oup.com
Science and medicine have a long and troubling history of reinforcing racist, antiethnic, and
sexist attitudes and beliefs, as well as ignoring and mistreating marginalized people. In their
editorial in Nature [1], entitled “Science must overcome its racist legacy,” Nobles and
colleagues describe how the scientific enterprise has reinforced racist beliefs and cultures
over time. For example, the authors discuss the impact of colonization on racism, including
how apartheid, imperialism, colonialism, slavery, and eugenics were memorably endorsed …

Social relationships in the digital sphere are becoming more usual and frequent, and they
constitute a very important aspect for all of us. Violent interactions in this sphere are very
frequent, and have serious effects on the victims. Within this global scenario, there is one
kind of digital violence that is becoming really worrying: sexism against women. Sexist
comments that are publicly posted in social media (newspaper comments, social networks,
etc.), usually obtain a lot of attention and become viral, with consequent damage to the …

G Cachat-Rosset, A Klarsfeld - Applied Artificial Intelligence, 2023 - Taylor & Francis
Artificial intelligence (AI) is present everywhere in the lives of individuals. Unfortunately,
several cases of discrimination by AI systems have already been reported. Scholars have
warned on risks of AI reproducing existing inequalities or even amplifying them. To tackle
these risks and promote responsible AI, many ethics guidelines for AI have emerged
recently, including diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles and practices. However,
little is known about the DEI content of these guidelines, and to what extent they meet the

integrated these tools to fuel scientific advances. One tool that has become more commonly
used is the theoretical framework of intersectionality, defined as how multiple marginali
13. Exploring the domains of gender as measured by a new gender, pain and expectations scale
M Ghodrati, DM Walton, JC MacDermid - Women's Health Reports, 2021 - liebertpub.com
Background: While sex-or gender-based differences in pain expression have been
documented, exploration of traditionally genderized traits on pain has been hampered by
the lack of strong measurement tools. This study evaluated the structural validity of a 16-item
“Gender personality traits” subscale of a recently developed Gender, Pain and Expectations
Scale (GPES). Methods: Data were drawn from an existing database of 248 participants
(65.7% female). Maximum likelihood-based confirmatory factor analysis was carried out …

Objective. As members of a gender minority, transgender individuals face many challenges.
Many experience distress, depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation related to gender
nonconformity and transphobia. Stress and trauma may contribute to the development of

of FM among transgenders is not known. Methods. Transgender participants were recruited
at a specialised clinic. Questionnaires included the Widespread Pain Index (WPI), the …
